Crossroads Community Church

Little did I know when I announced the theme for the rest of the year, "Prepare for Increase," that we would be adding to our Crossroads staff so quickly. Although there have been numerous needs we have been praying into, I never dreamed God had something very special in mind. "In his heart, a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps." (Proverbs 16:9)

God has certainly determined our steps in this one! We have been praying about the important role of the Executive Pastor for many years. We even felt the Lord had shown us "who" but the timing was never right. Well, now it is. We are thrilled to announce that elder Billy Vanscoy has agreed to come on staff full-time as our Executive Pastor starting September 6!

As we have hired staff throughout the years, three needed traits are considered: 1) Do they have a heart for God? 2) Do they have a heart for the primary vision carrier? 3) Do they have a heart for the vision of the ministry (do they embrace the values set forth)? Obviously, skills, experiences, education, and relational abilities are also considered. But, when these needed traits are met along with the other practical factors, we seem to have a God-match. And Billy more than exceeds these traits and qualities to fill this critical role.

Billy and Paula joined Crossroads just eight months after we planted the church in 1998 - 24 years ago. Billy has been an elder for 22 of those years! After fourteen years of marriage, they added their girls Jillian and Emmanuelle to their family. Billy was one of the first to go through our DOVE Global School of Ministry and was ordained in 2014. Recognizing his heart for ministry, we eventually appointed Billy as Assistant Pastor. Even so, he always felt his primary call was in the corporate business world, starting as an engineer at Rubbermaid, then as an engineering manager, and even a season as interim plant manager in two different corporations. Paula has been primarily a home-school mom but has equally shared the same heart for ministry being very involved in the Freedom Ministries here at Crossroads. Now, after all these years of faithfully ministering in the marketplace, Billy feels the release of the Lord to come on staff full-time. And we feel extremely blessed for this increase in the house.

As you see him, be sure to congratulate him and welcome him to his new role here at Crossroads.

In other news, later this week, we are hosting the Global Leadership Summit here at Crossroads. There are some seats still available, should the Lord prompt you to come. Angel P. - Please pray for me that I can remove drug addiction from my body. I'm working hard in my recovery.

Ben F. - Please pray I can live free from alcohol.

Dani H. – Please pray that my mom (Dianna) and I are healed of Lyme Disease. Also, pray that Peter’s colitis goes back into remission. Please pray that Peter and I will find great jobs and the opportunity to start building our own home.

Dawn B. – Pray for my son Brandon that his voice returns to him. He has a traumatic brain injury.

Kathi H. - I am requesting prayer for Drew P who is scheduled for triple bypass surgery this week. Praying for his surgeons and his complete healing and recovery.

Kayla M. – Pray that Samantha will come to God, and he will speak to her and Jordan too. Thank you!

Kristine L. - I recently lost a family member to cancer. More family is coming forward to tell of more family members battling cancer (Sally Keays Watters, Kae Mance, Lisa Hynes).

Larry Q. - Had two stints implanted last Tuesday, all went well and I'm recuperating well. Praise God I listen to my body and went in and avoided a heart attack!

Loretta S. – This week is the last week to finish our move-in before John and I both return to full-time school. Please pray for our renewed energy, wisdom, and harmony to finish this up. Please pray for expedited deliveries of furniture.

Mamie A. - Please pray for the following: Salvation for my father; healing from MS for my mother; deliverance for my daughter, myself, and my sister; and restoration of my family in Jesus' name!

Nick S. - Pray for my friend Bob who has prostate cancer.

Patty W. - I feel like God is directing me to move to the VA Beach Area. I need confirmation/ direction on how to proceed (when, where, etc.).

Rachel D. - I contracted Covid & started feeling VERY sick today (7/18). Please pray for healing & direction as to whether to take the experimental anti-viral medicine or not.

Rebecca M. – Praise: work God is doing in my life. Prayer: My children – Godly wisdom, truth, and healing. Samantha – safety, contact, and healing.

Tammy C. – Pray for my mom, Carolyn, for a successful surgery this Thursday and healing & wholeness. Also pray with me for the Pulse Youth Group at EMT Camp, for the Holy Spirit to move powerfully, for Jesus to encounter many and for many lives transformed in the glory of GOD! Hallelujah!
