Your Guide to What's Happening at Crossroads

From Missions to Makeovers

From Missions to Makeovers

Last Sunday, it was amazing to hear the reports from different missionaries and the heart of Denis Atis from PAC-Haiti.  As mentioned in my message, the Apostle Paul was, “not disobedient to the heavenly vision.”  I believe everyone is given a “heavenly vision.”  It’s as simple as, first and foremost, being a servant and a witness of Jesus Christ wherever we are!  Paul found himself in many different cities, cultures, and people groups, but his message and life were always the same.  Do whatever it takes to bring people to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior!  Our vision should be the same.

This coming Sunday is Palm Sunday.  Instead of focusing on the triumphal entry of Jesus coming into Jerusalem, I want to bring a message on the benefits of the cross.  While some church traditions emphasize various events in the last week of Jesus, our tradition usually only highlights Palm Sunday and then Resurrection Day.  In doing so, we often miss some important aspects of Jesus' last few days before the cross and the crucifixion.  In the future, I would like to incorporate a Thursday night service, a Friday night service, and then a Sunday service during Easter week, but not this year.

What do I have in mind for this Sunday?  The message title is “No Questions Asked!”  My goal is to bring in focus the fullness of what God did for us when Jesus died on the cross.  While the cross was not pleasant, the benefit was very pleasing for us.  The cross generates the goodness of God!

“This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”  Hebrews 10:16

The core of the message is that Jesus provided us with a complete makeover.  Most makeover shows reveal the before, during, and after pictures.  The before pictures are a stark contrast to the after pictures once the makeover is finished.  However, the makeover Jesus gave us through the cross includes internal changes, not just external changes.  I think there are times in our lives that we forget the “extreme makeover” that Jesus provides to us because of his death, burial, and resurrection.   Invite your nominal or unsaved spouses, friends, and family to this message (even though it’s Psalm Sunday).  They will be glad they came!
