Next Gen Leaders!
After Sunday’s service, I thought of Psalm 78:3-7. “What we have heard and known, what our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done. He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our forefathers to teach their children, so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they, in turn, would tell their children. Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.” NIV We designated this past Sunday morning as a “Youth Sunday” welcoming Crossroads’ PULSE to participate in the morning message. WOW, did they deliver! Three of our teens shared what they call “Five-Minute Fires.” These testimonies were thought out, well-articulated, very authentic, and personal. Some takeaways I received include: Michael C. shared how he moved from his parent's faith to his own faith in God by having an encounter with Jesus at a youth retreat. Crystal S. shared about being in the wrong crowd and struggling with various tendencies. After coming to PULSE God set her free to find new friends and break destructive cycles. Zi N. shared how our human nature does not want to ask for help, especially from God. It’s time to break that mindset. Mitchell, our youth leader, finished by sharing how young people were instrumental in Jesus' ministry. In fact, most of his disciples were teenagers! I am both proud and blown away after last Sunday's service! The next generation of leaders is not just being formed, they are here and ready to minister in power! I loved how Mitchell pointed out the next generation thinks about life differently than adults. Yet, their struggles are also our struggles. Consider what the three teens shared: making faith our own, breaking destructive habits, needing to change friend circles, and wanting to do things ourselves rather than ask God for guidance. In our own lives, those growth points plague even us as adults (or parents). Praise God they are overcoming those things at an early age! If you missed the service, check out the replay on our YouTube channel. This coming Sunday, we plan to honor graduates, have our small group leaders introduce themselves, and then I’ll bring a short message on belonging! We have one DOVE Global graduate this year. Michelle Matthiae will take a few moments to share her experience from taking the DOVE Leadership School. This coming September the school is starting a new year. Maybe God is calling you to join this year's class. It’s taught the second week of each month from September through May. Contact Pastor Nick for more information, registration form, and expectations. See you Sunday. |

God is at Work!
Jacob & Melody are praising God for the unmerited favor he has shown them and that He is a really good father! Earlier this year they participated in first fruits giving believing God to provide Jacob with a job that was closer to home. God has answered that prayer above and beyond what they asked for. Not only did Jacob get a job closer to home but he also received a significant pay increase! When Carole opened the service on Sunday, she shared her testimony of healing.
